Volunteer of the Year 2014/2015 Season

In memory of Marc Sylvestre

Jamie Burk, president of our curling club for the last few years is the recipient of last season’s volunteer award.  The board reviews the nominations submitted and while the nominees are not present, vote on their choice.  We had two nominees: Jamie Burk and Michael Gauthier. It is always difficult to choose as our volunteers always give more than 100{2b756756c3a00f528877849f93778be2d63817dac1f1ce5922ab6a74ea824183} of their time to keep our club in good shape.

Jamie is also involved with the “Save our Ice” fundraising committee which includes the fishing derby held at the Sturgeon Falls Museum in June. The fundraising was and still is important as we had to acquire a brand new ice plant, new light system and maintaining our current operations in good working order. He also spends numerous hours in promoting our club and working on our new website.
If it wasn’t for volunteers our organization would not survive! We thank you Jamie for all your efforts, enthusiasm and time!
